Minas Morgul

A city once claimed by Gondor, transformed into a place of darkness — and one of Magic's most striking land treatments.

Minas Morgul is the Lord of the Rings-themed version of Cabal Coffers, one of black mana's most famous lands. For two mana and a tap, Cabal Coffers produces one black mana for each Swamp you control.

The card rewards a mana base built around Swamps, making it especially powerful in mono-black Commander decks. What begins as an ordinary land can become a source of enormous mana as the game progresses.

The original Cabal Coffers appeared in Torment in 2002. Its Minas Morgul interpretation arrived in The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Commander. This borderless Realms and Relics treatment was illustrated by Sean Vo.

MANASCOUT'S PRINTING

LTC #390 is the surge foil version of Minas Morgul / Cabal Coffers. Its spectral architecture and ominous atmosphere make it a natural choice for this week's shadow-themed feature.

The drifting shadows and simulated foil reflections on this page are ManaScout presentation effects, not animations on the physical card.

UNDERSTANDING MAGIC PRINTINGS

One card. Many different versions.

What is an MTG printing?

A printing is a particular release of a Magic: The Gathering card. The same card can appear across multiple sets with different artwork, collector numbers, frames and rarities.

See Rhystic Study printings →

What makes a foil version different?

Foil cards use reflective treatments. Depending on the release, a card may have traditional foil, surge foil, etched foil or another special finish. Not every treatment exists for every printing.

How do I find the exact version?

Search for the card name, then compare the available printings. Set codes, collector numbers, artwork and treatment details help distinguish one release from another.
